  • Debbie Scott did not have any new items to discuss.

Board heard Director's report which highlighted the following:

  • Briefly touched on the May metrics for the district.
  • Have given away a number of district-branded drawstring bags and water bottles to juvenile patrons during summer reading. The promotional items have been well received.
  • Michelle Goodwine, Multi Media Specialist with the Hutsonville school district, came over and took some of our old children’s area shelving for use in Hutsonville’s junior high library. We also installed some of the old shelving at our Oblong location, replacing some of the metal shelving there.
  • Droste Conrete completed the renovation work on the two 86”x44” window openings at the Oblong library on Thursday and Friday, June 2 and 3. The awning on the front of the building was also reinstalled.  Both look great.
  • The district went live with Beanstack on Friday, June 3. We completed training of staff on how to create new accounts, update reading logs, etc.  We started publicizing the new app June 6.  As of June 16, 2022, we had 71 persons registered on the site and 5,069 minutes read so far.
  • First Choice re-wired the public access computer area at Robinson on Monday, June 6.
  • Goff & Sons Plumbing have confirmed they will be at the Robinson library the week of June 20 to replace the cast iron pipe in the basement.
  • Mindi and Doug met with Monica Jordan at Hoopla for an introductory strategy session in advance of a projected July 1 district-wide launch of Hoopla. Also had a follow-up meeting on Monday, June 27 to discuss marketing for the new app launch.
  • Mindi and Doug attended the Red Carpet Premier for WEIU TV’s Crawford County: This Is Our Story program at Quail Creek Country Club on Thursday, June 9. The live airing was on Thursday, June 16 at the WEIU studios in Charleston.  Doug attended the airing and answered phones during the 10-minute pledge breaks.
  • Doug offered a recap of summer reading participation numbers through June 16. We’ve had great participation at each district location.

Board heard the Children’s report from Mindi Williamson:

  • Finished story hours for the school year at Regional Office of Education (ROE).
  • Went to Washington Grade School and went from classroom to classroom talking about our upcoming summer reading program.
  • Attended Fun Day at Washington Grade School on May 13. It was a hot day but an enjoyable day.
  • Brian “Fox” Ellis did a summer reading kick-off program at Lincoln Grade School on May 16. It was a really good program and the kids were very attentive.
  • Had a painting party for adults but only two attendees.
  • We’re heading into week four of our summer reading program. So far we’ve had really good participation at Robinson.  We are way ahead of last year’s totals.
  • Still doing story hour at Little Learners until mid-July, when we will take a break until September.

Debbie Scott summarized upcoming events for the district and then made a motion for adjournment.  All were in favor.
